Introduction

There is extensive knowledge of stroller design from 1980 to 2014, examining it to identify the shortcomings and advantages of each design. There are many methods of carrying babies that vary by culture and country. The baby carrier idea comes as multitasking and comfort become necessary in parents’ daily lives. A baby carrier has made things easier for parents as babies no longer have to be carried by parents or sit on parents’ backs. Babies who cannot keep their heads still and upright are usually born in slings. Cribs are popular with Native Americans to keep babies safe and comfortable (Garrett, McElroy, & Staines, 2002).

Abstract

The current work attempts to design and manufacture an ergonomic stroller with the latest state-of-the-art features. A review of the design of strollers in previous years was conducte between 1980 and 2014. Based on the study, it was strongminded that the idea of a foldable rack dated back to the early 1980s. In the 1980s, people started to save space. Electronic devices in strollers were not correctly implemented due to battery and cable clutter.

The Baby’s safety and comfort have always been the top priority by designing a seat that hugs the Baby’s spine and ultimately makes the Baby’s growth much safer. Instead of the actual work, a slick prototype design was produced using the rapid prototyping system.

The idea was to merge the use of electronics with the buggy by inventing “plug and play” modular attachment devices that would allow carts to be customized, including headlights and fan accessories. In addition, the latest advanced designs of the ergonomic stroller such as a ventilated backrest, a built-in rocking chair, a two-way push handle with ergonomic support, a frame with built-in hooks for storing various types of “plug and play” accessories, and themes for attaching the foldable strollers on a typical stand trolley have been implement.

Public Interest Statement

Strollers are becoming increasingly popular with baby boomer generations. Despite the popularity, the level of innovation in the design of strollers has stabilized in recent years. This article illustrates the evolution of stroller design from 1980 to 2014. Based on the appraisal, it was found that the idea of a foldable frame appeared in the early 1980s when users started to conserve space. Electronic devices in strollers were not correctly implemented due to battery and cable clutter. Instead of the current work, the idea was to merge the use of electronics with the stroller by inventing “plug-and-play” modular attachment devices that can customize strollers that include headlights and fan accessories for cooling. The possibilities of different types of supplements are endless.
